Laert Haxhiu and Orges Bilbili will be retried for the first murder, that of Gerti Lala, a former member of the Lushnja Gang, which occurred in 2010 in Lushnja.
Haxhiu, 15 years old at the time, and Bilbili were acquitted by both levels of the judiciary, but the decision of the Vlora Court of Appeals, issued in July 2019, was overturned by the High Court in January of this year.
The latter sent the acts to the General Court of Appeal in Tirana in order to re-examine the case.
The Vlora Prosecutor's Office, which investigated the file because it had a juvenile section, through several testimonies, telephone and environmental wiretaps of the two defendants, requested their conviction on the charge of premeditated murder.
After a process that lasted several years, the Court of First Instance and the Court of Appeal overturned the prosecution's verdict, stating that it was not proven that the crime was committed by them.
Laert Haxhiu and Orges Bilbili are currently in prison serving life sentences for what is known as the Lushnja massacre that occurred in 2017, where 2 people were killed and 1 was injured.
Haxhiu is also under investigation, suspected of being the leader of a criminal group responsible for several crimes, murders and TNT explosions in recent years./ Tv Klan
