
Four Albanians between the ages of 24 and 44 were arrested by the Carabinieri in Riccione, Italy, for a series of burglaries inside apartments, but also for drug sales and possession of weapons without a permit.
The arrests were made following reports of thefts in the area, which attracted the attention of the police and led to the launch of investigations.
The suspects were arrested yesterday evening (January 19), when the Carabinieri intercepted the vehicle used by the 'falcon' gang. The Albanians tried to escape when they saw the officers, but were unsuccessful.
During the ensuing scuffle, one of the carabinieri suffered a broken hand. Despite attempts to resist, the arrests were carried out without further complications.
The operation also led to the seizure of high-value goods inside the car, including a semi-automatic pistol, over 40 watches, some of which were from prestigious brands, as well as various designer clothing, media reports.
The investigations revealed another aspect of the arrested persons' criminality: possession of narcotics. Inside the apartments connected to the arrested persons, a package containing over 700 grams of cocaine was found, a sign of ongoing drug trafficking.
Further, under the cushion of a sofa, the carabinieri found 20 thousand euros in cash, in banknotes of various denominations, proceeds from criminal activity.
