A 39-year-old man has been arrested by the Border Police Services after attempting to smuggle approximately 1.2 tons of oil into Albania through the border with Kosovo.
After searching the interior of the van, the Police found and seized approximately 1.2 tons of diesel smuggled through Pakistan, outside border crossing points and customs services, evading border and customs control.
The 39-year-old faces the criminal offenses of "Smuggling of excise goods" and "Illegal crossing of the state border."

He attempted to smuggle about 1.2 tons of oil into Albania through the border with Kosovo. The Border Police arrested and handcuffed the 39-year-old from Kukës.
The quantity of oil and a van transporting the oil were seized as material evidence.
The Border Police Services of the Kukes Local Directorate for Border and Migration, in continuation of monitoring the green border with the aim of preventing and combating cross-border crimes, have made it possible to crack down on a case of attempted hydrocarbon smuggling.
The Border Police Services have stopped a van type vehicle on the Pakisht-Kukës rural road, driven by citizen VS, 39 years old, resident of Kolesian, Kukës, where after checking inside the van, the Police found and seized approximately 1.2 tons of diesel smuggled through Pakisht, outside the border crossing points and customs services, avoiding border and customs control.
The amount of fuel was seized as material evidence, while the driver of the vehicle was arrested in flagrante delicto for the criminal offenses of "Smuggling of goods subject to excise duty" and "Illegal crossing of the state border", the police announced.
