Czech authorities have arrested 3 people suspected of being part of an international drug trafficking network, one of whom is Albanian.
The investigation began after the seizure in the last two years of 1 ton of 490 kg of cocaine in banana crates in the "Lidl" supermarket chain, according to foreign media.
The operation, carried out in cooperation with Interpol, led to the arrest of Jiri G., the head of the fruit and vegetable import department at "Lidl".
Also captured was another Czech citizen, Petr H., the connections of the Czech drug lord Radovan Krejcir, one of the richest men in the Czech Republic, wanted in this country for drug trafficking and currently in prison in South Africa.
The third person arrested is an Albanian citizen, who was meanwhile under investigation for drug trafficking by the authorities. It is known that the criminal group was led by a person who lived in Prague for a long time and was convicted of drug trafficking.
He had connections in South America and the Port of Hamburg, where the drugs came from. Once the cocaine arrived in Hamburg, it was transported to the Czech Republic in banana crates loaded onto trucks.
According to the police, the suspects risk 10-18 years in prison.
