A 52-year-old Albanian man has been extradited from France to Albania, after being accused of heroin trafficking and organized criminal grouping.

As a result of the cooperation of Interpol Tirana with Interpol Lyon, France, the Albanian Fraklin Xhelaj, a resident of Fier, known by the nickname 'Bebi', has been extradited from France.

"Extradition from France to Albania, an Albanian citizen accused of the criminal offenses of "Trafficking in narcotics", "Structured criminal group" and "Commitment of criminal offenses by criminal organization and structured criminal group".

As a result of the cooperation of Interpol Tirana with Interpol Lyon, France, Albanian citizen Fraklin Xhelaj, 52 years old, resident in Fier, has been extradited from France.

For this citizen, GJKKO, with the decision dated 19.07.2021, has set the security measure "Arrest in prison", for the criminal offenses "Trafficking in narcotics", "Structured criminal group" and "Commitment of criminal offenses by criminal organizations and organized criminal group".

This citizen, in cooperation with other citizens, organized in the form of a structured criminal group, is suspected of being involved in the trafficking of the narcotic substance heroin, transporting it between Greece, Albania, and partly also in North Macedonia. From investigations with special methods, this citizen is suspected to have been involved in three different episodes of this criminal activity, during 2016, two of which remained pending.

From the investigations and coordinated actions between the Albanian and Greek judicial authorities, it has become possible to seize about 27 kg of heroin. Citizen F. Xh., involved in this criminal activity, had the nickname "Bebi". The extradited citizen was handed over to the General Directorate of Prisons, for further action," the police announcement states.
