The Tirana Court has rejected the request for release from detention of Altin Çoku, the well-known TikTok social network personality suspected of being the cause of the suicide of 27-year-old Sibela Abedini.
41-year-old Çoku has been in prison since February 2024. He is being tried in the capital's court for "causing suicide" and "persecution" to the detriment of a young woman, mother of a minor child, who allegedly ended her life from the emotional shock she experienced after an intimate photo of her was published on social media.
Despite Çoku's claims of health incapacity due to a physical deformity, the Tirana Court has assessed that we are not faced with a particularly serious health condition that threatens his life, that the defendant can receive the necessary specialized treatment from prisons or public hospitals, and that no legal circumstances have changed against him that would lead to a relaxation of the security measure, reports " A2CNN "
The incident for which the 41-year-old was arrested occurred on February 10, 2024 in the Bathore area of Tirana. The 27-year-old woman jumped from a high floor of her apartment, sustaining injuries that caused her death.
Çoku testified that the young woman, with whom he had had an intimate relationship, had appeared very worried about the publication of the photo, telling him that she would end her life. On the other hand, the investigation also uncovered a conversation, where Çoku tells Abedin, among other things, that ""I will be a black shadow for you! Do you understand that I will make you kill yourself. When I say that black shadow, black shadow. I will make you go crazy, go to hospital no. 5".
After his arrest and during the investigation, the defendant Çoku maintained a denial of the charges, claiming that he had not published the intimate photo of the 27-year-old, but that it had been taken by a friend of his, with whom he had disagreed over a debt issue.
