
Samuel Garuja was arrested today in Kavaja after being accused of being part of a gang that was involved in heroin trafficking in Italy.
He is suspected of being a member of a criminal group, in Italy, for heroin trafficking, located in Kavaja and arrested for the purpose of extradition, the 46-year-old.
The Court of Catanzaro, Italy, in the year of 2023, has set the security measure "Arrest in prison", for the criminal offense "Participation in a criminal group, with the purpose of drug trafficking", provided by the Italian Criminal Code.
The criminal group in which the 46-year-old participated is suspected to have trafficked to Italy, significant amounts of narcotics, mainly heroin, during the period 2013-2018.
The drugs, mainly heroin, came from Turkey and, passing through Albania, were imported into Italy through the port of Bari, to be then distributed to drug trafficking centers in Crotone, Catanzaro and the provinces.
According to the investigations in Italy, it turned out that the Albanian Arkez Dibrani, known by the nickname "uncle", was at the head of the organization, and was hiding in Albania, from where he directed drug trafficking.
Also, Dibrani was helped by Samuel Garuja, Isa Garuja and Samuel Muça. The three become responsible from Italy for the drug distribution network in Catanzaro, establishing contacts with wholesale buyers of heroin. During all the investigations, 34 people were arrested in the act.
From the criminal activity carried out, it was possible to seize a total of over 45 kilograms of narcotics such as heroin and marijuana, 18 thousand euros in cash, about 70 kilograms of cannabis and two weapons possessed without permission.
