21-year-old Simon Sholla, who was found dead this morning in Gjirokastra, is suspected of committing suicide in the dormitory toilet.
The young man from Lushnja had come to spend a few days in the dormitory of the "Holy Cross" Orthodox school in Gjirokastra, where he had previously completed his studies.
He was found dead this morning by his friends in his dormitory bed, while medications suspected of being antidepressants were found next to him.
A forensic examination is awaited to confirm whether he died of natural causes or from a medication overdose. The body of the deceased was transported to the city morgue a short while ago.
"On 16.01.2025, at around 09:55, in the toilets of the dormitory of a private school, in the "11 Janari" neighborhood, citizen S. Sh., 21 years old, resident of Durrës, was found without signs of life and without signs of violence. From the first investigative actions, it is suspected that he lost his life as a result of an overdose of medication that the 21-year-old was taking due to depression," the police announced.
