Greek police have seized over 109 kilograms of marijuana near the Greek-Albanian border during an operation conducted on Sunday morning in the Igoumenitsa area.
According to authorities, officers stopped a vehicle suspected of being loaded with narcotics. During the search, 102 packages of marijuana were found and seized, weighing a total of 109 kilograms and 364 grams. The packages of drugs were hidden in the back seats and trunk of the vehicle.
The driver of the vehicle, a 43-year-old Turkish citizen, has been arrested, while investigations continue to identify possible accomplices involved in the trafficking network.
According to the Greek police, since September 2025, over 1.1 tons of narcotics suspected of being trafficked across the Greek-Albanian border have been seized.
The most numerous cases were recorded in Igoumenitsa, both by land and sea, while other seizures were carried out in Ioannina, Thessaloniki and Kos.
