Two Albanians who were caught on a cannabis farm have been sentenced to prison by British courts.
These are citizens Llazar Lepuri, 21, and Kledis Zefi, 23, who entered the United Kingdom illegally.
They were caught during a police operation at an abandoned building that they had converted into a cannabis farm. Police found 454 cannabis plants, 195 of which were ready to harvest, in the four-story building in Ipswich town center.
Police officers raided the 'farm' on December 20 and found 12kg of pre-packaged cannabis leaves with a street value of £330,000.
Kledis Zefi, 23, entered the UK illegally in a small boat in March 2022 and his asylum claim was withdrawn in November 2023 after he failed to appear for two interviews.
Llazar Lepuri, 21, entered the UK using a false passport at Luton Airport in September 2021 and was refused asylum in May 2023.
Using drones, police found the Albanians on the roof of the building where they were deliberately destroying their phones.
They both admitted to producing cannabis and were sentenced to more than six years in prison.
Zefi was sentenced to 32 months in prison and Lepuri to 45 months.
The court heard that Lepuri has a previous conviction for producing cannabis.
