Portuguese Ruben Saraiva has denied before the Lezha court that he was involved in the murder of businessman Ardian Nikulaj last year.

In his testimony, he said that he had nothing to do with the execution and that he was in Albania on vacation.

"I did not know the victim and I learned his name from the media ," he said.

He also asked to get to know the file.

The court of Lezha has imposed an "indefinite prison sentence" for the Portuguese citizen, Ruben Saraiva. The court session took place at 10:00 this Tuesday under strict security measures.

Just two days ago, eight months after the murder of Ardian Nikulaj in Shengjin, Ruben Ribeiro Saraiva, suspected by Albanian justice as the businessman's executioner, was extradited from Morocco to Albania in handcuffs.

Meanwhile, the lawyer appointed by the state, Elton Laska, in a communication to the media, clarified that the Prosecutor's Office requested the measure of arrest and imprisonment.

"The prosecutor's office requested a measure of arrest and imprisonment, his statement was that he had nothing to do with this event. The court guaranteed him that he would have all the judicial documents available within a deadline provided by law, and he reserved the right to express himself at another time. His reaction was that he has no knowledge of the event and that he found out about it through the media. He had come to Albania for vacation" , lawyer Elton Laska stated.

Arrested in Great Britain for the murder of Nikulaj, are the rest of the criminal group, Edmond Haxhia, Stephen Hunt, Thomas Mithan, Harriet Bridgeman and Harry Simson, for whom there is still no extradition decision in Albania.
