63-year-old Shpresa Mermali, the mother of Elton Mermali from Lushnja, has broken her silence by speaking for the first time about the circumstances of her son's murder on October 17, 2021, an event that took place in the city of Peqin, by the river Shkumbin.

According to her, it is exactly this worry that has tormented her for so many years and that brought her to this difficult health situation.
He experienced the murder of his son very badly, still suffering today to find the cause and reasons.
During a telephone conversation with "Ora News" journalist Elton Qyno, Shpresa Mermali says that due to her poor health, it is impossible to speak on camera.
But over the phone, she is ready to clarify that there was no enmity with the family of Laert Haxhiu and his father, Qamili.
Shpresa Mermali says that she knows Laert Haxhiu's family and that she met his mother, Flora, several times and they drank coffee together.
Asked what the reasons were and why Laert Haxhiu wanted to kill her son Elton Mermal, Shpresa on the other end of the phone says that she is unable to explain this, why she wanted to kill him and what the reasons were.
However, the 63-year-old has a mother's concern, concern in which she tries to find the cause of her son's murder by Laert Haxhiu's group, adding that:
"... Flora, Laerti's mother and I know each other and we have had coffee together many times in Lushnjë. The day when the two children Jurgen Hoxha and Zamir Latifi were killed in Lushnja, Flora came to the shop and we drank coffee, discussing the event. In the above conversation, I told Flora that whoever committed that crime, my son also committed it, may he be cursed and never be blessed.... I cursed it was a very serious crime, two children were killed. My concern is the concern of the mother who tortures me, that the words she said to Flora and the curse I made that day when we were drinking coffee, maybe Flora later passed it on to her son...".
According to the 63-year-old, they had no reason to kill her son, Elton Mermal.
"...I knew all of them by family, they had no reason to do this. My son Eltoni has been a friend since childhood and grew up together with Luisi, Laert Haxhiu's brother. I kept Luisi at home, I gave him bread together with the boy, since his stepfather, Qamili, drove him out of the house. Luisi would stay on the street and Elton would come to me and tell me "...take him home, mom...". And I would take him, I would give him bread because he was friends with the boy...".
Regarding the question that her son was involved in the murder of Bledar Haxhiut, Shpresa Mermali says that these are lies and slander made by journalists.
"...my son was only a 15-year-old child in the year Bledar Haxhiu was killed. How is it possible and do you believe that a 15-year-old child participates in the murder and even more so is Aldo Bare's right-hand man.
