The head of the criminal group, Kreshnik Farruku Budlla, has surrendered to the Durrës police. Also known as "the strong one" with 10 names, Farruku is wanted by Italian authorities on suspicion of drug trafficking.
Farruku is the head of the Farruku clan, known for criminal activities. He was wanted internationally and had his assets confiscated in December last year, following investigations related to the clan's illegal activities.
After his surrender, the authorities are continuing the investigations and related procedures, while Farruk will face the charges for which he is wanted.
Farruk surrendered last night around 22:00 to the Durrës police, accompanied by his defense lawyer. He is wanted by the Italian state for extradition purposes.
Kreshnik Farruk's name appeared recently also in the interceptions of Sky Ecc in the file of former MP Jurgis Çyrbja.
From the conversations transcribed by the Sky Ecc application, it emerged that the former deputy gave secret information to the wanted Kreshnik Budllas. Çyrbja informed him to check the environment around his apartment, as he had information that he might be under observation by the employees of the Information Service.

Budlla was handcuffed in a hotel in Madrid after several months of investigation and pursuit by the police, as he was wanted in Spain and Italy for cocaine trafficking and theft of several apartments, while he was also investigated for a murder in Spain. According to the Spanish media, Kreshnik Budlla was suspected of killing his boss in Spain in 2010, due to drug deals. But after the investigation, the Spanish prosecutors concluded that the murder had been prepared by Devi Kasmi, who was killed in an assassination attempt in January 2018 in Tirana.
In May 2010, Farruk was arrested along with seven other gang members in Barcelona with 20 kg of cocaine he was trying to smuggle into Italy by car. After his imprisonment, it was the younger brother, Erniu, who took over the leadership of the group, but was arrested two years later in 2012. In 2014, Kreshnik Farruku escaped from prison while continuing to deal with drug trafficking , until he was arrested in 2019.
In 2015, Kreshnik Farruk was assassinated in Albania. He was in the company of his brother-in-law, Rinald Budlla, and two friends, when he was shot in the "Don Bosko" area, while a passerby was injured. The track at that time was related to the disruption of drug deals in Italy, Spain and the Netherlands.
Meanwhile, in 2012, the Court of Durrës imposed a preventive seizure on assets that reach a total figure of around 1 million euros in his ownership. According to the Prosecutor's Office, these assets were suspected to have been created by his illegal activities and were used by his two family members, Reshit Farruku (father) and Roland Farruku (whose brother was assassinated in 2014 in Manez), residents of Shijak in Durrës.
The investigations showed that Reshit and Roland Farruku had bought a property worth 920,000 euros in the Lalzi Bay area, as well as having a bank account in the amount of 6,271,000 lek that was seized.
