According to the announcement of the German police and prosecutor's office, "on Saturday evening, March 9, 2024, a 38-year-old man from Bielefeld died as a result of a shooting in the city center.
The author or authors are on the run."
The main German media have written about the case emphasizing that it is about the former Kosovar boxer Besar Nimani.
The announcement states that according to the current findings, the victim was in the area of Obernstrasse Klasingstrasse around 18:00 when "one or more perpetrators approached and shot".
The police state that the Kosovar citizen died at the scene due to serious injuries.
"A major police operation is currently underway in the Bielefeld city area. The search for the author or authors continues," the announcement states.
As reported by the Police and the Prosecutor's Office, there is no risk for third parties not involved in this incident, which ended in murder.
Further, the police emphasize that the investigations are being carried out by the "Ober" homicide team headed by chief detective Alexander Scholz.
According to the prestigious Bild, the 38-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene by the medical team. The perpetrators of this murder have not been identified by the German authorities, while a similar attack on him had also occurred in 2013.
During his career as a professional boxer, Nimani has fought 27 matches, where he managed to score victories in 26 of them, while suffering only one loss.
