Yesterday, the Greek police struck a criminal group involved in attempted murder, destruction of property with explosives, destruction of property by fire, injuries, as well as drug and weapons issues.

26 people were arrested by the Greek police, 8 of them are Albanians. The names of the arrested Albanians are whitewashed, while the group is led from prison by 45-year-old Edmond Përbasha, known as "Mondi".

A total of 26 people were arrested, including the leader of the group and his nephew. All are Albanian and Greek citizens.

In order to achieve their goals, the criminal organization operated in two subgroups, with a separate structure and operation. The first subgroup constituted the "strong core" of the organization, undertaking both drug trafficking and the commission of serious crimes that resulted in significant risk to human life and caused serious material damage. In the second subgroup, its members were lower in the hierarchy and were active exclusively and daily in the distribution of narcotics, in various areas of South-East Athens, specifically in Glyfada, Argyroupoli, Elliniko, Voula, Vouliagmeni, Vari, Alimo , Ilioupoli, Koropi, Lagonisi and Humnera.

The police have uncovered several criminal events such as the arson attack on a health care store in November 2023 in Marusi, the placement of explosives in June 2024 at the entrance of a building in Peristeri, the kidnapping and causing bodily injury to a person, in August 2024 for his monetary debt, threatening prison officers, in August 2024, placing explosives in August 2024, in a store of health interest in Argyroupoli and the attempted murder with a firearm and knife against two people, in October 2024 in Nea Smyrni.

From the checks carried out as part of the operation, about 155 thousand euros in cash, 1 kg of cocaine, 32.6 kg of marijuana, 50 ecstasy pills, 640 grams of MDMA, 16 scales of 23 scales, 5 pistols and seven pistol magazines, 2 air weapons with magazines, bulletproof vest, Kalashnikov magazine with 29 rounds, belt of cartridges, 17 knife, iron fist, metal rod, 12 cars and 9 motorcycles, a bunch of nylon packs, firecrackers and smoke generators, anabolics, cell phones and SIM cards, various digital data storage media, 3 high value wrist watches, laptop , 110 British pounds, police hats and 13 spray paints.
