The old people's home in the city of Fier was engulfed in flames this afternoon. As a result, several people were left asphyxiated and were sent to the hospital.
Firefighters have gone to the scene and are extinguishing the flames. Fortunately, the elderly managed to get out of the asylum and no one was injured by the flames, except for some asphyxiated people who are receiving medical help in the hospital.
Preliminary sources indicate that the cause was an electrical spark caused by an adjacent apartment.
" Around 3:30 p.m., a fire broke out in the Fier nursing home, on the second floor. Police and fire services are on the scene and are working to extinguish the fire. All the elderly have been evacuated and some of them have been taken to the hospital for medical assistance as they did not feel well due to the smoke. The investigative team is working to find out the cause of the fire , the police explained.
