A fire has engulfed an apartment in the "18 Shtatori" neighborhood, near the University of Gjirokastra, causing panic among residents of the area.
Two elderly people were left asphyxiated by flames and smoke, while it is suspected that the cause of the fire was a gas cylinder.
Firefighters immediately intervened to bring the situation under control and rescue the residents. Fortunately, no casualties were reported, but the material damage is considerable.
Authorities are investigating the circumstances of the incident, while the incident brings to attention the danger of using gas cylinders in unsafe conditions.
