
The former official of the Ministry of Environment, Pëllumb Abeshi, accused of the affair with the incinerators, is released from the cell. The court itself announces that the terms of detention have expired and the security measures against him have been lifted.
Pellumb Abeshi was found guilty and sentenced to 2.8 years in prison, and it appears that he served his sentence while in custody, allowing him to be released from prison today.

1. The defendant Pëllumb Abeshi on 08.01.2024 submitted to the Special Court with the object: Extinguishment of the security measure "Arrest in prison", provided by article 238 of the Penal Code, assigned to him by decision no. 20, dated 27.03.2022 of the Special Court of First Instance for Corruption and Organized Crime.

At the end of the trial, the Special Court of First Instance for Corruption and Organized Crime with a panel composed of judges Elsa Ulliri, Irena Gjoka and Flora Hajredinaj, based on articles 261, letters "c" and 262 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, with decision No. 31, dated 10.01.2023, decided:
- Acceptance of the request.
- Extinction of the security measure "Arrest in prison", assigned to the citizen Pëllumb Abeshi by decision No. 20 Act, dated 27.03.2022 of the Special Court of First Instance for Corruption and Organized Crime.
- The immediate release of the defendant Pëllumb Abeshi is ordered if he is not convicted, arrested or detained for any other criminal offense.
- The Special Prosecutor's Office against Corruption and Organized Crime is charged with the execution of this decision.
- Against this decision, an appeal is allowed to the Special Court of Appeal for Corruption and Organized Crime, within 5 days, starting from the day after the communication of the decision.
