
The well-known Albanian cinematographic actor, Birçe Hasko, one of the most beloved and appreciated figures of the Albanian stage and screen, passed away today.
The sad news was made public by actor Mevlan Shanaj.
"Birçe Hasko is gone. The actor who left behind an honorable name, a great name in Albanian cinematography, is gone. The labi Birçe Hasko is gone. The man who gave the name concreteness to the mastery of interpretation is gone. The one whose humor and rigor were properties of character is gone. Farewell, friend and collaborator," Shanaj writes on social networks.
Birçe Hasko was known for his unique interpretations, through which he masterfully brought the popular character of the south, remaining unforgettable for the Albanian public.
He was born in Dukat, Vlorë, on March 15, 1942, and initially trained as a teacher before dedicating himself to art. He later studied acting at the Higher Institute of Arts in Tirana, where he later also practiced as a teacher, teaching the art of acting and educating new generations of artists.
During his artistic career, he played dozens of roles in theater and film, standing out for his ability to portray figures from Albanian daily life with realism, naturalness, and humor. He became part of some of the most famous Albanian films of the 1970s-1990s and beyond.
He was often described as a "master of characters", as even in secondary roles he managed to leave strong impressions on the audience.
For his contribution to Albanian art, Birçe Hasko has been honored with state artistic titles and is considered one of the most important figures in Albanian cinema.
