The violin teacher of several generations of Albanian artists, Robert Papavrami and father of Tedi Papavrami, has passed away. The Academy of Sciences expressed its condolences today on his passing.
"The Permanent Commission of Arts at the Academy of Sciences expresses its deepest condolences to the world-famous violinist Tedi Papavrami, on the passing of Robert Papavrami, his father and teacher. The Albanian violin school today is poorer with this loss, but we are comforted that the artistic legacy he left behind continues to new heights, thanks to your achievements, dear Tedi. May you live and be remembered!" , emphasizes the Academy of Sciences.
Robert Papavrami is one of the most well-known figures in Albanian music. The son of Dr. Theodhor Papavrami, Robert grew up in a traditional family, where the most important thing was duty. The young Robert distinguished himself as a violinist with soul, as he became a violin teacher and for decades produced many violinists.
Even after settling in France where he opened a school, he continued with his passion for discovering talent and training young violinists. Many of his students have made their debuts and continue to be recognized by name on stages around the world.
In November 2014, Robert Papavrami was honored by Prime Minister Edi Rama with the Medal of Gratitude for his long contribution to Albanian art.
