Rama mocks the opposition: We have more new MPs than the total number of losers of May 11

The SP Assembly begins, Rama presents the new cabinet

Prime Minister Edi Rama has mocked the Democratic Party. During his speech at the SP Assembly, the Prime Minister stated that 'the SP has more new MPs than the entire body of losers of May 11'.

Rama also said that young men and women should continue to prepare with the same seriousness during the political academy, while the SP will help them adapt.

"53 out of 83 members of our group are entering the Assembly for the first time. We have more new MPs entering for the first time than the magnificent body of victorious losers of May 11. Young men and women must continue to prepare with the same seriousness during the political academy, while we will help them adapt," said Rama.

Rama proposes amending the Constitution: The number of MPs should be reduced to 101!

Edi Rama

Prime Minister Edi Rama has proposed  amending the Constitution and said that it is now time to have a Parliament with fewer deputies.

In his speech at the SP Assembly, Rama said that it is time for Parliament to have 101 deputies, or even fewer, according to him, if possible, from the current 140.

"We need a new cycle of reform for several important institutions, including the Assembly. After 10 legislatures and 1136 elected deputies, the first thing that every Albanian rarely agrees on is the excess number of deputies. Reducing the number of deputies in the Assembly to at least 101 deputies would only have a positive impact in more than one aspect. Therefore, this positive change should be our objective, it coincides with the will of our voters, even those who voted in other directions," said Rama.

Prime Minister Rama, during his speech at the Socialist National Assembly, listed what he called the "three peaks" of the next mandate. In front of the elected Socialist MPs, Rama said that they have the task of completing the negotiations by the end of 2027, ratifying the membership in the member states and raising the Albanian flag in the courtyard of the EU.

"Our national mission of joining Europe has never been clearer and more clearly reflected in the governing program than today. Our task has never been clearer and more concrete than in this fourth consecutive mandate of the SP for Albania 2030: To close the accession negotiations in the next 27 months, at the end of 2027. To enable ratification in 27 member states for EU membership by the end of the mandate, to raise the flag of Skanderbeg and Ismail Qemali until the end in the courtyard of the common European family", said Rama.

Rama unveils the program for the new mandate: 3 objectives for the next 4 years

The SP Assembly begins, Rama presents the new cabinet

Prime Minister Edi Rama, during his speech at the Socialist Party National Assembly, listed 3 objectives for the next mandate.

In front of the elected Socialist MPs, Rama said that they have the task of completing negotiations by the end of 2027, ratifying the accession in the member states, and raising the Albanian flag in the EU courtyard.

"The new government program has never been clearer and more concrete. The mission of uniting with B has never been more concrete and reflected in the program than today. Our task as a majority has never been clearer than in this 4th mandate of the SP for Albania 2030. To close the negotiations in the next 27 months, to enable ratification in the 27 parliaments of the member states by the end of the mandate, to raise the flag of Skanderbeg and Ismail Qemali in Brussels by the end of the decade. These are not 3 stations, but 3 peaks that must be reached one after the other in time to realize the long-started ascent of Albania to the home of its family, to the written destiny of its future. Their reaching is not even written by fate or God, it happens through the patience and determination of the 400 or so people who are in this hall today. The stars of fate have aligned like never before in favor of Albania", he said. Rama says.

"I know it hit you like a bomb, you will be a candidate for Tirana", Edi Rama shocks Ogerta Manastirliu

Edi Rama catches Ogerta Manastirliu by surprise

After demanding from the Tirana Municipal Council the dismissal of Erion Veliaj and the announcement of new elections for the capital's municipality, Edi Rama has proposed Ogerta Manastirliu as a candidate for mayor.

Manastirliu currently holds the position of Minister of Education, but Rama's decision seems to have caught her by surprise.

The news of the candidacy, which was announced at the SP Assembly, was unexpected for everyone. Rama also said this, considering it an "unexpected bomb."

Meanwhile, the Prime Minister expressed his support for Manastirliu and said that he is the appropriate figure to lead the Municipality of Tirana.

"I know that you will not easily forgive me in a longer time, perhaps this time for this unannounced bomb, but Albania needs Tirana like a train for a locomotive. Therefore, the Socialist Party is no longer waiting to put the locomotive in motion at its highest pace, by appointing the right driver in the driving cabin. You and everyone must trust me. We do not have to look for a more suitable person. It is your turn to lead Tirana with the ambition, the calmness that characterizes you in all challenging tasks. While our task is to support you by standing in line behind you", said Prime Minister Edi Rama.

Rama's message to Tirana Municipal Council members: Fire Erion Veliaj

The SP Assembly begins, Rama presents the new cabinet

Prime Minister Edi Rama has given a message to the socialist members of the Tirana Municipal Council, telling them that they should gather and dismiss Mayor Erion Veliaj.

Rama said that Veliaj has been denied the right to a fair trial and that no replacement can have the legitimacy needed to lead him.

"We come to the emergencies of Tirana. After 7 months, there is no president, no elected president in office, no president convicted by justice, we have a president elected by the people, who has been denied the right to a free trial, he has been given a long trial, the reflections of the media bazaar, and an open violation of the law and every custom of that jewel from inside that stall and conversations with family members from the prison phone. This does not happen in any country, in any democratic country, dictatorial no no, the violation has been more open, more brutal, in total abuse of office, by those three who should keep the investigative materials under control, but this is another topic.

"No one knows how long this story can last, while no unelected deputy of the people, of the mayor, can have the democratic legitimacy and internal strength to lead the municipality of the country's capital for 2 years. Tirana has great, countless tasks, day and night. I do not take away any merit from the incumbent mayor for what he has done in these 7 months. I thank him. But today we must make a political decision to pave the way for elections for a new mayor in Tirana. Our representatives in the municipal council must put into operation the mechanism for dismissing the elected mayor. It is not a proposal that I make lightly, therefore I understand all those who may not feel good about such a decision," said Rama.

"We will not become anyone's bunker", Rama: We would damage the Albania of the future

The SP Assembly begins, Rama presents the new cabinet

The General Assembly of the Socialist Party convened today, where Prime Minister Edi Rama and simultaneously the leader of the Socialist Party presented the new government for his fourth mandate in leading the country.

Prime Minister Edi Rama has stated that the Socialist Party will not defend anyone who has problems with the law.

During his speech at the SP Assembly, Rama said that in this way, the future of Albania will be damaged.

"In my opinion, precisely because we have willingly entered this common political trench, with the flag of the Socialist Party and have chosen to work for the Albania of tomorrow, we have no opportunity to turn the trench into a refuge and bring out our artillery against SPAK or GJKKO. Including in cases where an injustice is being done to someone. We have not become the lawyer of the great political family that is forbidden from justice. No matter how unjust and absurd what I said may seem, the damage that our artillery would do to the Albania of tomorrow would be irreparable for more than a decade. To the new institutions of justice, as the guarantee of an independent justice. This is strategic state-building patience," said Rama.

"They remind me of Maks Velo's investigators", Rama accuses SPAK and GJKKO: Bargaining for the fate of persons under investigation

The SP Assembly begins, Rama presents the new cabinet

Prime Minister Rama has not spared criticism of the justice system, including SPAK and GJKKO.

In his speech to members of the Socialist Party National Assembly, Edi Rama did not spare criticism of the justice system, including SPAK and GJKKO.

Regarding the latter, he said that the Special Prosecution Office has remained a tool, while regarding the prosecution body, he expressed his revolt over the way various cases are handled and investigated.

The Prime Minister also said that the intimidation of free people by justice officials reminds investigators of Max Velos.

"We have not wavered on this path, we will not waver even today, despite the facts that, in addition to indisputable achievements, the new power of justice occasionally shows signs of the old disease. The new power of justice still has in its ranks, up and down, throughout Albania, prosecutors and judges who are short-sighted, narrow-minded and lacking in integrity, who turn white into black, while the independent governance of the system reacts as if it were asleep on its feet. Recent cases, when some prosecutors and judges have violated the law by supporting its implementers.

The great truth is that neither SPAKU, the only pride of justice reform, nor the Special Court, which is not emerging from the shadow of SPAK, is an exception. Even these institutions have given us reason to be surprised and very seriously concerned, the disregard for the presumption of innocence, the intimidation of persons at large, the release of investigative data in order to predetermine the fate of the investigated persons in bargaining" , said Rama.

New cabinet, Rama strongly criticizes judges: Whoever talks about arrests and pressures doesn't know what they're talking about!

Prime Minister Edi Rama

Prime Minister Edi Rama, at the launch of the Socialist Party Assembly, spoke about the Justice Reform, emphasizing that he has "no regrets about the freedom and independence we have given to justice."

"In the new mandate, we will have to immediately address the emergency created in Tirana's leadership. I want to say as clearly as possible what I believe we should all share together about justice and our relationship with it. We as the Socialist Party have never entered into an issue of justice, especially when justice has not fully spoken its word. We have not become the advocate for our people even when it may not seem fair to us. We have no regrets about the freedom and independence that we have given to justice through the Justice Reform. Through the reform, we have consciously removed the hands of the executive from any process of selecting or dismissing prosecutors or judges. We have left it to the judicial power to govern its own affairs through the bodies provided for by the Justice Reform. Therefore, whoever speaks of our seizure of justice either does not know what they are talking about or does not want to accept the very great truth of an epochal change for a country where there has never been independence of prosecutors or judges from any political power," said Rama.

Prime Minister Rama focused on justice issues, speaking critically of judges and prosecutors who, according to him, "maintain narrow-mindedness and a lack of integrity within their ranks."

"We have not and will never become the lawyer of anyone who is investigated or detained by justice, whether this is right or not. We will have no regrets about the freedom and independence that we have given to justice with the Justice Reform and the historic withdrawal of majority power from the field of judicial power," said Rama.

Rama warns of early elections for Tirana: The situation is no longer sustainable, we will not interfere in the affairs of justice

The SP Assembly begins, Rama presents the new cabinet

We will also have to address here the emergency created in the direction of Tirana for the reason known to the world. It can no longer be said, but I must say as clearly as possible from the beginning what I believe we all share together.

Prime Minister and SP leader Edi Rama, speaking at the SP National Assembly, said that this party will never become the lawyer of anyone who is investigated or detained by justice.

In this way, it seems that Rama has given a message regarding the fate of the Mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj, whose file has been sent to the Criminal Court for trial, while he has been under the security measure of 'prison arrest' for 7 months.

Rama announced early elections for the Municipality of Tirana, describing the situation created in the capital after the arrest of Erion Veliaj as unprecedented.

Rama said that this issue "cannot be sustained any longer" and must be resolved.

"We have gathered in this first meeting of our most challenging 4-year term to open the chapter of our fourth mandate, which officially begins in a few days with the swearing-in of the assembly and the vote of confidence of the new government. We will also need to address here the emergency created in Tirana's leadership for the universally known reason. It can no longer be tolerated, but I must say from the beginning as clearly as possible what I believe we all share together," said Prime Minister Edi Rama.

Rama continued by saying that we will not become the lawyer of anyone who is investigated or detained by the justice system, even when it does not seem fair to us.

"We have not had and will not have any regrets about the freedom we have given to justice with the justice reform."

"Through the reform, we have removed the hands of the executive from any process related to the promotion or dismissal of prosecutors and judges. Whoever talks about our capture of justice either does not know what they are talking about, or will not accept the very great truth about an epochal change in the history of this country," said Edi Rama.

He stated that we have not wavered and will not waver on our path, even though the new judicial branch occasionally shows signs of the disease of the old system.
