Can Berisha's "non grata" be lifted? Lubonja: Trump worships

Donald Trump, as of today, after being sworn in, will officially be the 47th President of the United States of America.

Analyst Fatos Lubonja was asked in the News24 studio whether there is a possibility that with Donald Trump coming to power in America, Sali Berisha's persona non grata status will be lifted.

Lubonja said that there is a small chance through lobbying. But, he added that Trump has shown that he admires people who have power. From this perspective, Trump would support Rama more than Berisha.

"Donald Trump has shown that he worships people who have power. If Trump wants to see a powerful man in Albania, it is Edi Rama and not Sali Berisha. Especially since Rama has economic interests with Trump's son-in-law, Kushner.

"If Berisha were in power, he would have more chances to remove the women's name. The DP has an illusion. But a small chance exists through lobbying, but again Trump does not ruin relations with the DP. But, the DP should rely on the Albanians and not think about Trump," said Lubonja.

According to him, Trump sees things as a businessman, adding that Trump's vision is anti-neoliberal globalist. Lubonja stated that Donald Trump is a populist and that he wants a Europe of states, not a united one.

"Trump promised to stop the wars. Donald Trump sees things as a businessman. Trump made big promises, which seem inflated to me. Trump's vision is anti-neoliberal globalist. He wants an America that withdraws into itself, that strengthens itself and becomes competitive with other economies.

"Donald Trump is a populist, this populism led him to victory, but now let's see what will happen. Trump does not want a united Europe, but a Europe of states. Donald Trump only invited Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, who is right-wing. Europe must unite to see its own interests," said Lubonja.
