The Mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj, has started to get scared because of the affair with the incinerators. In one show he followed Rama's strategy, trying to wash his hands. He billed the abuses to others.

But, if in this process someone has made a mistake, they must be held responsible ," said Veliaj.
The Head of the Municipality underlined that the land where the landfill of Tirana was built has always been the property of the Ministry of Economy. He explained that, unlike Fieri and Elbasan, the Municipality of Tirana is paid only for the service.
"In the landfill of Tirana, the municipality is not the owner, not even of the land. I hear all kinds of ignoramuses sitting at the counters and saying, "How did you give away the land?" The land has always been owned by the Ministry of Economy. There is no journalist to tell them: "How can you lie about something that is obvious and everyone knows that it has never been municipal land". There was never a need for the town hall to meet to make such a decision. Second, unlike Fieri and Elbasan, the municipality there only pays for the service. So we don't have to pay for the investment. With the service contract, they went to get a loan from the bank. They took the risk. So, no risk has been taken for the citizens of Tirana - not only Tirana, because 5 municipalities, plus Durrës, deposit there. However, these politicians focus only on Tirana. Tirana is only 1 of 6 customers. We are a customer like everyone else and as a bigger city we produce more waste. The fact is that the bill has not changed. This is a contract for the entire county, entered into by the authority at that time", he said.
The mayor underlined that the Municipality of Tirana is not the supervisor of the works for the incinerator. " If they were to give it to the Municipality of Tirana, then if I were the supervisor, as every project is in charge, I would also be in charge of this one. But I don't have this duty, I'm not the supervisor. We have a duty to take the waste to the beam, according to the contract. The incinerator has a private supervisor. Today the supervisor is in front of justice and is giving an account for this. But if you say that, since some people have made mistakes here, we should not build the incinerator at all, close it, not pay for garbage, how will the city be cleaned? How is garbage cleaned in Vienna? It is the incinerator in the middle of Vienna ", declared Veliaj.
