The majority's plan to increase the salaries of members of the Constitutional Court is stalled. Even though the law passed in the committee despite the big uproar, the SP has not managed to secure the necessary numbers in the Assembly.
The intervention in the Law on the Constitution requires 84 votes and the majority has been left in the mud even by members of the opposition. For this reason, the SP group has requested that this item be removed from the agenda and approved another time.
The draft law drawn up by the Ministry of Justice, with the proposal of the Constitutional Court itself, provides that the salary of a constitutional judge will be around 644 thousand ALL, while that of the president of this court in the amount of around 773 thousand ALL. This draft law was contested by some members of the Commission as "illogical and unfounded" during the discussions 2 days ago.
The members of the Constitutional Court will have much higher salaries than the president, but also the members of the Supreme Court.
" The monthly salary of the judge of the Constitutional Court is the same as the multiplication of the coefficient 0.96 with the salary of the President of the Republic. The monthly salary of the judge of the Constitutional Court is indexed by decision of the Council of Ministers no later than two years after the last indexation. The indexation level, in any case, does not exceed one percentage point above the inflation target level by the Bank of Albania ", the law states.
Also in Article 17, the point is added: " In addition to the monthly salary, the judge of the Constitutional Court benefits from an allowance due to the special nature of the work, in the amount of 58% percent of the salary ."
Meanwhile, the benefits will be greater for the president, who will benefit from a salary increase, a 58 percent salary increase and an additional 20 percent on top of that.
It is interesting that the addition to the Constitution comes at a time when the judges have given some decisions in favor of the government, while some others are pending. The Constitutional Court opened the way for the port of Durrës and also dismissed the lawsuit for the seizure of floors without permission.
The file for Butrint is currently under review. The request to remove the mandate of MP Olta Xhačka is also expected to end in the Constitutional Court. It seems that Rama is trying to have a good time with the members, although in relation the argument is that this is done to maintain the salary hierarchy. / Pamphlet
