Former president Ilir Meta has occupied the front pages of the world's most prestigious media. The arrest has caused a sensation everywhere and all the media have given importance to it.
The former president of Albania, Meta, has been arrested for suspected money laundering, according to his party, writes ABC News.
" The left-wing Freedom Party in Albania said on Monday that its leader and former Albanian president Ilir Meta has been arrested on suspicion of money laundering. Meta, 55, was arrested in the capital, Tirana, by officers of the National Bureau of Investigation, according to local media.
He was being investigated for alleged illegal lobbying in the United States years ago. "Meta has served in the highest positions in post-communist Albania, including as Prime Minister, Foreign Minister and Member of Parliament", writes this media among others.
