Three days after the local elections, with Decision no. 302, dated 17.5.2023, Prime Minister Edi Rama has approved the granting of an additional monthly bonus on top of the monthly salaries, for the permanent members of the Assembly of the Academy of Sciences, for life.
According to the decision, members of the Assembly with the title of "Associated Academician and Emeritus" will benefit from a permanent monthly remuneration in the amount of 700 thousand old lek, while those with the title of "Academic" will receive a reward of 1 million old lek per month, paid by the state.
The granting of these allowances in the form of rewards to the 55 assemblymen of the Academy of Sciences, has started on June 1, 2023, and will be stopped only when they leave this world.
For the 7 months of June-December 2023, the government has allocated 159 million ALL from the reserve fund, while for 2024 and beyond, the value of 275 million ALL for their rewards will be added to the annual budgets of the Academy of Sciences.
For the salaries of the Academy, the government grants 1.1 million Euros per year, while in total 1.7 million Euros; the expenses of which, according to a regulation drawn up by Skënder Gjinushi and approved by Prime Minister Edi Rama, no state auditing institution has the right to control them.
We clarify that in addition to fixed salaries and bonuses from 700 thousand to 1 million lek per month, the assemblers of the Academy of Sciences also receive royalties, per diems, fuel, publish their books with the funds of the Academy, receive projects but also share the income that is provided from renting out the premises of the Academy.
In the list of beneficiaries of 1 million lek per month, are the mayor Skënder Gjinushi, Anastas Angjeli, Mimoza Hafizi, Rexhep Mejdani, Genc Sulçebe, Apollon Baçe, Artan Fuga, Arjan Durrësi, Albert Doja, Pëllumb Xhufi, etc.
