Head of State Bajram Begaj welcomed artists from the Tetova High School to the Presidency today. During the meeting, Begaj encouraged the artists to continue preserving and promoting Albanian tradition.

“A piece of art” arrived this Friday from Tetovo, in Tirana. The President of the Republic, Sh. TZ Bajram Begaj, opened the doors of the institution to the young artists of the municipal textile high school in Tetovo. They revealed their talent through creations inspired by tradition. The 63 works exhibited at the Presidency Institution conveyed a variety of avant-garde artistic currents in textiles, furniture and interiors with the common element: Albanianness.

President Begaj, in welcoming them, described them as missionaries in the continuation of preserving the spirit of the nation, promoters of cultural and educational values.

"Your vocational school has a tradition of several years in the design of various clothing, applied arts of interior, furniture and handicraft and food products, and this is a model that deserves pan-Albanian, nationwide promotion. Today, I have also invited students of the same direction as you from the Artistic Lyceum of Tirana, so that both schools can build bridges of cooperation, which are based on the development of youth talents in art and textiles. The Head of State advised the young artists to continue preserving and promoting the tradition: "I encourage you, dear students, that your artistic imagination never abandons the national elements and the artistic spirit of Albanians poured over the centuries into our traditional clothing. They are clothing of our national and cultural identity, inherited and enriched from generation to generation," the presidency's announcement states.

Begaj emphasized that we must work hard so that, in addition to the "K'cim of Tropoja", thousands of years of traditional clothing are also included in UNESCO.

"Referring to the Xhubleta and Tropoja Dance protected by UNESCO, President Begaj said: "We must continue to work hard so that our thousand-year-old costumes from other regions of Albania can also be transformed into the wealth of all humanity."

The Mayor of Tetova, Bilall Kasami, was also present at this event, who praised the initiative of the President of the Republic in the service of Albanianness: "With this action, the President also demonstrates in action his commitment to the Constitution of Albania to be the President of all Albanians and outside other ethnic lands."

"Students and teachers from Tetovo exchanged ideas with artists and professors from the Tirana Artistic Lyceum on creating the possibility of institutionalizing the union of young people in Albanian territories," the presidency announced.
