The Immunity Council, which met today to discuss the case of Deputy Prime Minister Belinda Balluku, has begun its debates.
The meeting became tense after the Democrats requested that it be held with open doors, which was not accepted by the Socialists.
"In principle, the meetings of the Assembly bodies are open and there is no reason for this meeting to be held behind closed doors. You, Mr. Speaker, have the obligation to put this to a vote. You cannot hide from the public the theft of millions of euros by Belinda Balluku, or the complicity of Edi Rama in this matter," said the head of the DP Parliamentary Group, Gazment Bardhi.
Meanwhile, the head of the SP parliamentary group, Taulant Balla, responded to Bardhi by saying that he was surprised that the DP was against the Prosecutor's request that the meeting be held behind closed doors.
"The request is clear, the prosecutor wants it behind closed doors. You are ridiculous, you say we want point 1 and we don't want point 2 of the same request from the prosecutor. Woe to Albania for this opposition," Balla said.
