Opposition protests, Vokshi: The only way to end Rama's corruption!

Democratic Party MP Albana Vokshi spoke about the protests organized by the Democratic Party, and the next one on February 28.

She declared that this is "the only way" to end electoral crime and high-level corruption.

Vokshi said that the protest constitutes a fulfilled commitment to the citizens, previously announced by the leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha. According to her, the May 11 elections were “manipulated, distorted and violated” and do not reflect the real will of the citizens.

"Democracy comes from elections. If it does not allow citizens to vote freely and fairly, then there is no democracy," said Vokshi. She added that, according to the opposition, since 2013, Prime Minister Edi Rama has not organized any free electoral process.

The Democratic MP emphasized that the Democratic Party has investigated and reported the alleged irregularities, also informing the international community about the situation.

Another element that, according to her, has increased opposition mobilization are the recent developments related to Deputy Prime Minister Belinda Balluku. Vokshi stated that SPAK has requested the lifting of her immunity, claiming involvement in tender interference and abuses worth up to 1.1 billion euros, mentioning among them the tender for the Llogara tunnel.

The opposition claims that Prime Minister Rama is behind the corruption scandals and that he is attempting to influence the justice process through an amendment that, according to it, aims to provide him with "super immunity."

She emphasizes that the request for a caretaker government remains a non-negotiable condition for guaranteeing free elections and restoring institutional legitimacy in the country.

"The May 11 elections were manipulated, distorted, violated. And for several months, the Democratic Party did what it promised. To show not only nationally, but also internationally, what happened before May 11 and after May 11. I believe that we have already kept this duty and this promise to citizens, transparency about what we could, about what happened before and during the May 11 elections.

And of course, who has been the main objective and who remains the main strategic objective of the Democratic Party? As long as Edi Rama has not organized free and fair elections since 2013, the first objective of every protest organized by the Democratic Party is to ensure free and fair elections for the citizens. Why? Because democracy comes from elections. Democracy is a vote. If you do not allow your citizens to vote freely, to vote honestly, then there is no democracy in Albania. And we have managed to prove this to them, to show this to the international factor. Now, I believe that, if not 100%, then 90 or over 90% of the international factor, now has a clear idea of who Edi Rama is and how Edi Rama manipulated the elections," Vokshi said for "Syri.tv".
