The head of PD Lulzim Basha, while delivering his speech at the Sports Palace, apologized to the democrats who support him. He said that in DP they fought for walls and chairs and not for the citizens.
He considers this National Assembly called by him to be the start of a new path for the Democratic Party.
"I did not come today to pretend to the Democrats. Today, I deeply apologize to the democrats, and on behalf of the democrats, on behalf of the Democratic Party, I apologize to the Albanians. The reason we are here together, the reason we exist as a political force is to serve the people, not ourselves! The purpose of our existence is to offer Albanians an alternative to their governance, solutions to their problems, solutions to their problems, a vision for their future. According to Basha, the dirty hands of old politics do not hide behind the mud they throw at PD.
" In these two very difficult years, we resisted and never became one with the mud of accusations, never adopted the language of slander and public lynching. Many times they have considered us this as a weakness. But time has now shown that they who threw mud at us, they can't hide it with their dirty hands from the slanders with which they damaged the Democrats and PD. We didn't lie to you, we didn't promise you imaginary revolutions or revolutions that never happen. We are aware of the situation in which the PD is in after the irresponsible acts of its former leader. This fact cannot be hidden even by the towers that have corruption and mud thrown at us." - said Basha.
