The President of the Republic, Bajram Begaj, hosted this evening the Albanian diplomatic corps serving in various countries around the world, where he presented his vision for a stronger role for Albania in the international arena.
In his speech, Begaj emphasized that Albania, although a small country in size, has shown that it can contribute to stability, cooperation and joint solutions. He underlined that this is the path that strengthens the country's position and image in the world and turns Albania into a reliable partner and factor of stability in the region and beyond.
The head of state attached particular importance to the partnership with the United States of America and NATO, describing them as a guarantee of national security and a shield in an insecure world. He added that Albania's Euro-Atlantic orientation is irreversible.
In the same vein, President Begaj reiterated that full membership in the European Union remains the country's strategic objective, which encompasses the aspirations of citizens for development, well-being and the rule of law. He added that Albania supports EU enlargement in the Balkans, stating that Albanians are a factor of stability and cohesion in the region.
Begaj also brought to attention the success of organizing the European Political Community Summit in Tirana in May, as well as the commitment to host the NATO Summit and the World Law Congress in 2027, describing these as proof that Albania can be an important bridge of dialogue and cooperation in Europe and beyond.
The President also spoke about the role of Albanian diplomacy, describing it as an “architect of new relations” and “promoter of Albanian values.” He called on ambassadors to be more proactive and always keep the doors of embassies open to the Albanian diaspora, which he considered a national asset.
At the end of his speech, Begaj mentioned the issue of Kosovo, emphasizing that Albania will continue to work for new international recognition and for its integration into the EU and NATO, as Kosovo is already an integral part of the family of democratic countries.

I am pleased to welcome you to the institution.
I appreciate the opportunity of this meeting to reflect on our country's journey towards an Albania with a consolidated, advanced democracy and soon a member of the European Union.
I would like to begin with an appreciation for your work, for the dedication you show and the sacrifices you make away from home and often away from your families, holding high the flag and name of Albania.
Jetojmë në një botë ku trazirat politike dhe konfliktet e armatosura po lënë gjurmë të dhimbshme. Lufta në Ukrainë ka rikthyer në Evropë plagët e një historie që shpresonim ta kishim lënë pas, duke rrezikuar sigurinë dhe stabilitetin e kontinentit.
Ne riafirmojmë mbështetjen tonë të palëkundur për integritetin territorial, sovranitetin dhe pavarësinë e Ukrainës, me besimin se SHBA-të dhe BE-ja do të bashkërendojnë përpjekjet e tyre për një paqe të drejtë dhe garanci sigurie afatgjata për Ukrainën. Lindja e Mesme vazhdon të digjet nga një rreth vicioz dhune që merr jetë të pafajshme dhe minon shpresën për paqe.
Ne do të vazhdojmë të mbështesim të gjitha përpjekjet e komunitetit ndërkombëtar për t'i dhënë fund konfliktit nëpërmjet bisedimeve dhe dialogut. Ne jemi të qartë dhe të bindur se një zgjidhje e përhershme dhe e drejtë respekton ekzistencën e dy shteteve të pavarura, që jetojnë në paqe, në bashkëpunim dhe fqinjësi të mirë.
Po jetojmë një periudhë ndryshimesh dhe tranzicioni në marrëdhëniet ndërkombëtare, çka na shtyn që në politikën e jashtme dhe diplomaci të jemi me qasje më proaktive, më kritikë e të thelluar në analiza, si dhe më largpamës në prognozën e së ardhmes.
Partneriteti me Shtetet e Bashkuara të Amerikës dhe anëtarësia në NATO përbëjnë shtyllat themelore të politikës sonë të jashtme. Aleanca me SHBA-të dhe NATO-n është garancia jonë për sigurinë kombëtare, mburoja jonë në një botë të pasigurt dhe, njëkohësisht, dëshmi e vlerave dhe orientimit tonë Euroatlantik.
Shqipëria është pjesë e pandashme e Evropës dhe synimi ynë madhor mbetet anëtarësimi i plotë në Bashkimin Evropian. Ky është objektivi strategjik që përmbledh aspiratat e qytetarëve tanë për zhvillim, mirëqenie dhe sundim të ligjit. Ky është horizonti që orienton reformat tona dhe garanton rrugëtimin e pakthyeshëm të vendit drejt familjes evropiane.
Anëtarësimin në Bashkimin Evropian nuk e shohim si rrugëtim vetmitar, sepse besojmë në një rajon të integruar në BE, me shqiptarët si faktor stabiliteti dhe kohezioni. Këtë e kemi dëshmuar nëpërmjet angazhimit tonë dhe kryesimit të iniciativave madhore rajonale.
Suksesi i organizimit të Samitit të 6-të të Komunitetit Politik Evropian në maj të këtij viti, organizimi i Samitit të NATO-s në vitin 2027, si dhe Kongresi Botëror i Ligjit po në këtë vit tregojnë se vendi ynë mund të jetë urë e rëndësishme dialogu dhe bashkëpunimi në Evropë e më gjerë.
Shqipëria beson fuqimisht në multilateralizëm, në rendin ndërkombëtar të bazuar në rregulla dhe në fuqinë e dialogut. Si një vend i vogël në madhësi, por i madh në vullnet, ne kemi treguar se mund të kontribuojmë për stabilitet, për bashkëpunim dhe për zgjidhje të përbashkëta. Ky është roli që forcon pozitën dhe imazhin tonë në botë, si dhe rrit identitetin e Shqipërisë si partner i besueshëm dhe faktor stabiliteti në rajon e më gjerë.
In this mission, you are our most valuable instrument, because your role and that of diplomacy as an instrument of foreign policy is irreplaceable. Today's diplomat is not only a protocol representative of the state, but he is an architect of new relations, a builder of bridges of cooperation, a spokesperson and promoter of our values in an increasingly complex world.
In your work, you have not only the support of the state, but also an extraordinary ally: Albanians living abroad. They are a valuable asset if you engage and contacts with them are transformed into genuine networking. Keep the doors of the embassy open to your compatriots! They are not just statistics, but are members of the great Albanian family. This year marked a historic step for the Albanian Diaspora, enabling our citizens to vote from the country where they live for the first time.
Make sure that our embassies are not only centers of gravity of relations between states, but also safe havens and nodes of strong ties between Albania and Albanians wherever they are.
This means, among other things, timely and quality consular services, aggressive promotion of the country, and proactive support for the Albanian language, culture, and identity.
Albania does not have the luxury of having passive diplomatic representatives, waiting for the next official visit to become diplomats, especially now, in this new pre-world.
At a time when the world is gripped by crisis and uncertainty, diplomacy has become one of the most valuable tools for protecting national interests.
For Albania, proactive diplomacy is a vital necessity. It is our way to protect our security, influence our development, and contribute with dignity to global affairs.
This requires, among other things, cooperation, more communication, more coordination of steps. Albania's foreign policy is stronger when it speaks with one voice, when our institutions act in synchrony and when we all work for the same common goal. This is the condition that strengthens the state and gives Albania a stronger voice in the international arena.
But, even with a strong Albania internationally, Albania and Albanianness would not be fully represented without a Kosovo member of all international organizations. You must continue to work in cooperation with our partners for new recognitions of Kosovo and its integration into the European Union and NATO, convinced that Kosovo is now an integral part of democratic countries and societies.
The future will bring new and unforeseen challenges, but with dedication, wisdom, and vision, Albania will emerge stronger, more respected, and more present in the world.
I thank you for your service, for your hard work, for the role you play in increasing the dignity of our state, and I assure you of our continued cooperation in the future!
