The President of the Republic, Bajram Begaj, held this Friday, December 19, a year-end dinner with journalists and media representatives, where he appreciated their contribution in covering developments throughout the year. In an atmosphere of reflection on the role of information and the challenges of the profession, Begaj stated that journalism is one of the most important professions in society.
During his speech, the President praised the presence of the media in every event and situation, noting that the year that is ending has been filled with political and social dynamics that have been followed in real time by journalists. He described journalism as a more important profession than medicine, since according to him, "doctors have a responsibility to the individual, while journalists have a responsibility to the public interest."
" I always thought that the medical profession was the most beautiful in the world, but I was wrong. Gabriel Garcia Marquez said it better than I did: Journalism is the most beautiful profession in the world ," said Begaj. He added that the work of journalists has been dedicated, in institutions, on the streets, and always in the service of citizens.
In conclusion, the head of state expressed gratitude for the media's informative mission, emphasizing that its role is key in preserving democracy and spreading the truth.
" Like any other year, it has been rich in events, from routine ones to the most dynamic political developments, which no one else reports better than you. I have always thought that the medical profession is the most beautiful profession in the world, in fact I was wrong, because, as a famous Colombian writer, Gabriel Garcia Marquez, says, journalism is the most beautiful profession in the world.
Because it is a difficult profession, with many challenges, but one that has a much greater responsibility than doctors. Doctors have a responsibility to the individual, while you have a responsibility to the public interest. And you have been present everywhere to report, to inform. You have been on the streets, you have been in institutions, dedicating yourself and being committed forever. So today is the day to thank you for your dedication, for your contribution and I believe that the responsibility of informing about the truth is what makes you proud. Thank you very much for your work and mission ", said Begaj.
