Berisha and Bardhi

Sali Berisha has prepared the status changes from house arrest and has appointed Gazment Bardhin as party vice president.

On March 5, the National Reestablishment Council will meet to approve the changes in the statute, which pave the way for changes in the leadership of Reestablishment.

Gazmend Bardhi and Agron Gjekmarkaj are expected to be the new vice presidents of the Democratic Party of Reestablishment.

The process of electing the leaders of the party is expected to be completed on Tuesday at the meeting of the national council, where Gazment Bardhi will put some of his deputies in charge.

3 weeks after two of the three groups of the democratic party joined in the headquarters, Gazmend Bardhi is expected to be officially appointed as the vice-president of the Democratic Party of Re-establishment.

Agron Gjekmarkaj is expected to be in the same position, who will be added to Luciano Boç and Oerd Bylykbashi, who currently perform this task.

The names are expected to be formalized at the meeting of the national council called on Tuesday afternoon, while there will also be changes in the leadership, adding a member from the united group.

Accordingly, the new names of the members of the presidency are expected to be Dhurata Çupi, Zheni Gjergji, Tomor Alizoti, Ferdinand Xhaferri, Helidon Bushati and Ervin Salianji, together with Bardhi and Gjekmarkaj, who will be members of the presidency due to the function.

All such changes will be voted on by the members of the national council, while this process also concludes the election of the party's governing bodies.

Right now, the challenge for the opposition remains the reorganization at the base, where the process is expected to open soon for 20 branches that are without a president.

Meanwhile, former Prime Minister Berisha last week requested the removal of the "house arrest" security measure imposed by the Special Court.

We remind you that Berisha has been under house arrest since December 30, 2023, as he is suspected of corruption in the case of the privatization of the former Partizani sports complex.

On March 4, a court hearing was scheduled for former Prime Minister Sali Berisha, who requested a change in the security measure.

The Special Court against Corruption has decided on Berisha the security measure of "house arrest", in connection with the Partizani complex affair.

The former prime minister has been accused of corruption, together with his son-in-law, Jamarbër Malltezi. Both Berisha and Malltezi have denied the charges.

Earlier, Sali Berisha rejected the measures given by SPAK, that of the obligation to appear and the ban on going abroad, considering the measures as unconstitutional. After the non-implementation of these measures, the Special Structure tightened the security measure for Berisha, leaving him under house arrest.

Since October of last year, Berisha is accused by SPAK of having undertaken legal changes for the benefit of his son-in-law, Jamarbër Malltezi - enabling the latter to build the business of a company from which he benefited 5.4 million euros.

Berisha, 79, is the most senior official in three decades to face such an investigation, following the arrest and jailing of former prime minister Fatos Nano in 1993.

Since the end of December, Berisha has been under house arrest after he did not comply with a previous court decision to appear before the Judicial Police, a decision he considers unconstitutional.
