Berisha leaves Endri Shabani and 6 other candidates in the dust, withdraws

The Democratic Party will not support Endri Shabani's candidacy for People's Advocate, while previously the leader of Nisma Thurje had received the signatures of 35 opposition MPs. But it seems that the Democrats have reconsidered their stance, withdrawing the signatures in support of Shabani.

He was among the 7 names who had submitted their application to run for the position of Ombudsman within the deadline, where Jola Hysaj, Aranita Brahaj, Skënder Halucaj, Tartar Bazaj, Besim Ndregjoni and Adriana Kalaja were also in the race.

But the Democrats have withdrawn their support for all candidates, although it is not known whether this last-minute move by the DP will be accepted by the Socialists, even though the latter have stated that they will not present any candidacy. However, the Socialists have stated that their position will be made through a vote, that is, among the group of names that the opposition will present.

Earlier during a media conference, DP leader Sali Berisha did not mention his name, but hinted that the Democrats have their own candidates in this process.

One of the names that Berisha has often mentioned is that of the president of the Association of Former Political Persecuted Persons, Besim Ndregjoni.

Endrit Shabani, who in the last parliamentary elections was part of the coalition with Adriatik Lapaj, had a direct clash with the leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, while asking him, during a television debate, to leave politics and pave the way for young people to take over the party. It seems that this is the reason that Berisha has decided to burn Shabani's candidacy, but also other names that have expressed interest.
