Democratic Party leader Sali Berisha spoke today from the DP headquarters regarding what he considered to be the renewal process of this party, which according to the former Prime Minister began with the election of members of the National Council.
Berisha said that the delegates of the National Assembly voted for the renewal of the DP, emphasizing that 30% of the members of this forum are young and 40% are women.
Are you also seeing the possibility of a spirit of renewal for the leadership of the DP, and will women have an important role in leadership positions, perhaps in the position of vice president?
Sali Berisha: I hope and believe that yes. This extremely vital spirit of renewal for the DP, which was expressed, which was received with the vote not only for the resolution that the Assembly approved, but with the vote for the candidacies that were voted for members, will continue and must continue at all other levels.
Mr. Berisha, at the end of the process of complete reorganization of the DP, what you describe as renewal, what will happen next with the DP, what will be its focus, its opposition action?
Sali Berisha: In the Assembly we announced the main directions of work. The basic pillar was renewal, which means continuous elaboration of our vision and program. It means modernization of all the activities of the DP. It means organization of all its structures. So, the DP has a multifaceted activity now, which extends from the parliament, the presidency to its section. It is a very ambitious work agenda, but I have great confidence that it will be successfully fulfilled.
