Prime Minister Edi Rama has continued his virtual communication with citizens on social networks, announcing that the spring bonus for pensioners has been approved by the government on January 9, 2025.
According to the decision, pensioners with pensions below 20,000 lek will benefit 100 euros, while those with pensions above this amount will receive 50 euros.
In response to criticism that this measure was taken for electoral purposes, the prime minister said: "Of course, when elections come, a kind of balance is made, it is inevitable. In these conditions, communication is necessary to be more intense."
Addressing concerns over price increases, Rama noted that the government is aware of their impact and is working to mitigate the effects of this increase. He stressed that, although market prices are determined by supply and demand, the government has taken measures to protect consumers, keeping the price of energy for households below the real cost.
The Prime Minister also noted the increase in the number of active companies in the country, from around 100,000 when he took office, to 250,000 currently, describing this as a significant indicator of Albania's economic development.
"The spring bonus is available to pensioners based on the government's decision on January 9. On the other hand, someone pointed out to me that I was reminded of the campaign, but this is only half the truth. Of course, when elections come, a kind of balance is made, it is inevitable. In these conditions, communication is necessary to be more intense. The other half of the truth is that it has become impossible to communicate about people's problems in media salons where they only talk about prison, sentences, theft, blah blah blah.
"We are aware that something must be done to mitigate the price increases that are beyond logic, but the figures and facts speak for themselves and if when we took office there were about 100 thousand companies, today there are 250 thousand active companies in Albania. It is an extremely significant figure, just as there is another important figure," he said.
