Braçe-Kumbaro

Socialist Party MP, Erion Braçe, raised in the Assembly the concerns of parents about the delays in the opening of the "Emin Duraku" school, during a question-and-answer session with the Minister of Education, Mirela Kumbaro.

Braçe stressed that for months, parents have been facing difficulties due to the change in the routine of their children, who are taking afternoon classes at the "Edith Durham" school. According to him, about 1,700 parents have been forced to reorganize their daily activities to send and pick up their children from school.

He recalled that the construction work for the school had started in December 2024, while in March last year the deadline was set for the building to be completed in September. According to Braçe, although the building was completed in October, the school has not yet opened to students.

"Since December of last year, parents' lives have changed, as they have to adjust their schedules to accompany their children to school. As we speak, school ended in October and only these days has the completion of the material base begun. When will the school open?", he said.

For her part, Minister Mirela Kumbaro justified herself by saying that, although the construction of the building has been completed, its opening requires several administrative and technical procedures, including the approval of the facility and the furnishing of the premises.

She announced that some of the furniture has already arrived at the school and the equipment process is nearing completion. According to the minister, the building includes 33 classrooms, 10 laboratories, a multimedia room, a library and a sports gym.

Kumbaro added that students are temporarily studying at the "Edith Durham" school, which is located about 160 meters away, while the new facility is expected to be fully functional next September.
