The branch of the Democratic Party, Kukës, has proposed that the opposition come up with a joint winning candidate, leaving behind conflicts and divisions, for a common goal: to defeat Rilindën and Rama in the local elections of September 24.
But the head of Reestablishment, Sali Berisha, even though he said that they still do not have a name, declared categorically against a candidate for the entire opposition, and even added that it is easier to make an alliance with Taulant Balla, (for which he does not stop saying that is involved with criminal gangs), than with the official Democratic Party.
But it seems that the democrats in Kukës, tired and disappointed by this 2-year conflict among themselves, but especially by the catastrophic loss in the local elections on May 14, seem to have decided to take the situation into their own hands for the elections in their municipality, after the arrest and imprisonment of Safet Gjic.
Alfapress.al has secured at least three minutes of the Reestablishment group sections, where Arif Rexhmati, the head of the branch of the official Democratic Party in Kuka, has been proposed as a candidate for mayor of the united opposition.

Among others, in the village of Shishtavec, in the verbal process held today, it was said:
In the verbal process held today, 18.08.2023, based on the status of the Democratic Party for the proposal of the mayor of Kuka, the Shishtavec section group proposes the following candidates:

- Vullnet Beluli proposed Gëzim Shehu
