An unusual statement from the Special Prosecution Office has sparked debate about media freedom and the limits of investigative reporting.
During an open session at the Constitutional Court, SPAK prosecutor Bledar Maksuti admitted that the institution has followed a practice of obtaining permission from journalists before publishing materials that may contain elements of investigative secrecy.
Chronicle journalist Armand Bajrami, invited to the "Open" show on News24, explained that the relationship with SPAK is neither hostile nor advisory, but professional and careful.
" Not everything we report on SPAK's actions we learn from SPAK directly. My colleagues and I do not have SPAK as an opponent, nor as an advisor. I contact SPAK to get an official position from them or to confirm a certain fact, but I am aware, like other colleagues, of information that may be sensitive and that may harm investigations ," he said, among other things.
