PD deputy, Arbi Agalliu insists that PD must do everything to fill the missing vacancies, that of the leader of the democrats and the chairman of the parliamentary group.
In an interview for Report TV, Agalliu says that PD does not need a president with a dark past, thus implying Sali Berisha.
He says that Albanians want a new approach and Berisha should reflect by letting the democrats choose the leader without interfering.
"Not one second is in favor of DP if it continues in this situation. PD has all the potential to develop an internal election process from the party chairman to the section chairman. All vacancies must be filled to create a team to face a regime. The situation so far has not been successful, we have tried to calm people down, but I believe that from today onwards, the PD should return as it deserves, not a force that waited more than it reacted.
We don't want individuals who have big question marks, who have been linked to corruption and have a dark past. Berisha officially has it. Berisha is the disaster of DP, it is our disaster. We gave everything for him, but I believe that the strength of a leader is also shown by resignation and withdrawal. It is the moment for Berisha to reflect by letting Albanians and democrats choose their leader. How long does it not do but demands revolution and protests despite the disappointing result to keep alive the hope of the democrats. Unfortunately, the Albanians want a new approach", said Agalliu.
As for the return of Lulzim Basha to active politics, the democratic deputy says that he has no idea if he is planning to compete for the head of the DP.
"Basha has his own activity. I do not know whether or not he will return to the head of the DP. Any individual who meets the criteria to run is welcome to do so. If Basha or anyone else gets the membership consent, it is in his right. Basha has taken a step back by taking responsibility after the March 6 elections when the situation became tense", Agalliu said.
It remains to be seen what will be the decisions that will be taken on Tuesday when the leadership and the DP parliamentary group meet.
