The Tirana Prosecution Office has questioned the Minister of State for Local Government, Arbjan Mazniku.
Journalist Klodiana Lala reports that Minister Mazniku was questioned about 3 weeks ago by the prosecutor in the case.
Arbjan Mazniku, at the same time the political leader of the Socialist Party in the Elbasan region, has given explanations for more than 4 hours at the Tirana prosecutor's office, regarding an investigation that is being conducted for the criminal offense of abuse of office.
The criminal file was opened by the prosecution based on the complaint made by Belind Këlliçi, at the time he was running for mayor of Tirana, against Erion Veliaj.
This concerns Xhon Belushi Street in Tirana, which was asphalted by Tirana municipality employees, at a time when the tender was still open and no winning company had been announced.
After the denunciation, the fictitious tender was canceled, while Erion Veliaj, acting mayor, was also reported to the Tirana prosecutor's office.
The investigations so far have revealed that Arbjan Mazniku, at that time the deputy mayor, was in the capacity of the contracting authority.
For this reason, he has been summoned to the prosecutor's office for his testimony. Sources at the prosecutor's office said they are evaluating whether to transfer the file to the competence of SPAK, as there is data and indications of the commission of criminal offenses.
