The leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, reacted after the protest held near the Parliament, accusing the government of using violence against the protesters. He stated that the police intervention was done on the orders of Prime Minister Edi Rama and Interior Minister Taulant Balla.

"On the orders of Edi Rama, today the narcotics police used toxic substances, expired tear gas, used bear spray, pyrotechnics, water cannons, dragged, and bled peaceful protesters with unrestrained cruelty," Berisha said.

In a statement to the media, the leader of the Democratic Party said that his party followed the development of events during the protest with concern.

"The Democratic Party followed today with the greatest concern the scenes of animalistic violence ordered by Edi Rama and Taulant Balla against peaceful protesters who had surrounded the parliament," he said.

Berisha added that, according to him, the actions of the authorities show the way the government seeks to protect power.

According to Berisha, during the protest there were also detentions of participants by the police.

"Dozens and dozens of protesters were forcibly and violently taken to be transferred to police station cells."

In conclusion, he demanded the release of all detained persons and called on citizens to support the protest.
