During the meeting of the Atlantic Council today, Prime Minister Edi Rama discussed the challenges of the region, where he focused on the issue of Kosovo. He said that the lack of recognition of Kosovo by Serbia is the "elephant in the room", and that the path to peace is that of dialogue. Regarding the attack in Banjska, Rama further added that Belgrade is also responsible for the tragedy, as it did not condemn this terrorist attack, but declared it a day of national mourning.
Rama seems to have changed his course regarding his attitude towards Albin Kurti, after he appreciated that he accepted the Association.
"I strongly believe in the fact that you cannot think of being better in this region without thinking of making a better region. In this interconnected world, we must learn to work with the strong conviction that what we need to do is to improve our country, the region and the world. However, we have an "elephant in the room" such as the lack of mutual recognition between Kosovo and Serbia.
We have enjoyed the fact that we have a society with several religious beliefs and that accept each other. Therefore, I believe that the war in Israel is dangerous, since Hamas and those who support them are agents of chaos. They want to spread this chaos everywhere, not only in the Middle East. Our region can be affected as well if we are not fully aware of this and if we do not do everything to keep chaos out and stop engaging in conflict.
The issue between Kosovo and Serbia is resolved with final peace and full recognition of Kosovo by Serbia. What happened in the tragic event in Banjska. The responsibility is very clear in this case, not only for the persons directly involved in the terrorist actions, but also the responsibility of Belgrade, which did not condemn the case, but declared a day of national mourning for the criminals.
By accepting the formation of the Association, the prime minister of Kosovo and the government of Kosovo have shown a significant will to move forward and seek a solution, not an alibi or to seek the past instead of the future.
As stated by Kurti, this will be extraordinary for Kosovo and the region", said Rama.
