Prime Minister Edi Rama has gathered today in an informal meeting the leaders of the Western Balkans in "Vila 30".
The EU Commissioner for Neighborhood and Enlargement, Oliver Varheyli, is expected to be present at this meeting.
The meeting, which will be held at 'Vila 30', is supposed to take place within the framework of the preparations for the Berlin Process summit, which will be held in the capital on October 16.
Meanwhile, the prime minister of Serbia, Ana Brnabić, and the president of the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Borjana Kristo, arrived at the meeting.
The Prime Minister of Albania, Edi Rama, whose country is leading the Berlin Process this year, announced the informal meeting during his tour of the Western Balkan states, a few days ago. This meeting has been said to have the purpose of discussion and coordination, to draft common demands, to present them at the October summit, where the leaders of the European Union countries are expected to participate.
However, even this informal meeting is not expected to bring together the head of the Albanian executive, Rama, and his counterpart from Kosovo, Albin Kurti, whose relationship has cooled for several months.
The head of the Kosovar executive, Kurti, according to an announcement from his office, will be in Greece today, where he will participate in the 25th edition of the SYMI International Symposium, which was founded by the former Greek Prime Minister, George Papandreou. . In Monday's meeting between the leaders of the region, Serbia is expected to be represented by Prime Minister Ana Bërnabič.
The Berlin Process was initiated in 2014 by the initiative of the former German Chancellor, Angela Merkel, with the aim of connecting and integrating the countries of the Western Balkans before joining the European Union. The Berlin Process serves as a platform for high-level cooperation between high-level official representatives of the so-called Western Balkan Six, which consists of Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Kosovo, North Macedonia and Serbia. The process also includes EU institutions, international financial institutions and civil society in the region. The next summit will be organized in Tirana on October 16, 2023.
