"Ukraine is a friend of Serbia, it does not recognize the independence of Kosovo", said President Vučić to the media in Tirana, as he was leaving the summit that was held for Ukraine.

The President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, after the end of the summit for Ukraine in Tirana, gave a statement to the media while he was leaving.
Vucic said his proposals to drop proposals to impose sanctions against Russia and Russia's malign influence were accepted.
"They agreed to remove the part about sanctions and Russia's malign influence and remove the construction of 'our state' and 'our country'. We are informed that it has been accepted. No sanctions, no talk of sanctions, no mention of Russia's malign influence ", Vucic said.
Vucic added that it is not easy for Ukraine and that he understands the position in which that country is. The Serbian president further said that he hopes that we will continue to build good relations with Ukraine.

He emphasized that it is very important to have good relations with Ukraine. Vučić said that Serbia, as before, will continue to offer, within its possibilities, humanitarian aid to the vulnerable population of Ukraine.
He also added that Serbia will remain committed to respecting international humanitarian law. Vučić did not want to reveal to journalists who insisted that the request for sanctions against the Russian Federation be included in the text of the statement, saying only "the most powerful".
He emphasized that he talked with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, with whom he will also have a bilateral meeting.
"We do our politics and I'm proud of that, they saw how everyone listened to what I said," said Vucic.
He said that he heard when Zelensky requested a summit of Ukraine and the Western Balkans, but in that case Serbia should create a platform for that summit, the one that suits our country.
Why does Ukraine not recognize Kosovo's independence?
Russia's attack on Ukraine caused most of the countries of Europe and the world to side with the Ukrainian state. Among these countries is Kosovo, even though Ukraine does not recognize it as an independent state.

However, Kosovo stood in solidarity with the Ukrainian people as it belongs to the democratic part of the world and is on the humanitarian side like most of the countries that supported Kosovo when it was under the attacks of the Serbian state during the years 97-99.
Kosovars achieved independence in 2008 with international support, but Ukraine does not recognize this status, just as neither its attacker, Russia, nor its ally, Serbia.
The leaders of Russia have often used the case of Kosovo as an example that the two Russian regions located within the territory of Ukraine deserve independence, which was recognized by Russia days ago.
This is also one of the reasons why Ukraine continues to have a position against the independence of Kosovo, and also the fact that Kiev and Moscow entered the war because of a territory, makes the case distinguishable from the case of Kosovo.
Kosovo fought for its territory and rights without the help of another country, being known as part of a country that was once known as Yugoslavia.
However, as a result of the war, massacres and crimes that took place in Kosovo, it received the support of the democratic world, which also encouraged the NATO bombings against Serbia.
