Former minister Genc Pollo, in a television interview, spoke about the political developments in the country, where he focused on the issue of former prime minister Sali Berisha.
According to him, in the case against Berisha, the constitutional values are not being applied, while he emphasized that this has led to the degradation of the situation, affecting everyone's life.
Pollo says that the prosecution in Albania is almost always aligned closer to the government, not excluding SPAK in this case.
He added that the request to limit Berisha's communication during house arrest is "proof" that SPAK has party-political inspiration regarding this case.
Regarding the activity of the opposition if Berisha will be placed under house arrest, Pollo underlined that the protests will continue as before and the opposition action will not be affected.
" When requested by the lawyers, the case did not go for review to the CJK, which would have to express itself. Constitutionality in the rule of law is alpha. A democratic order without implementation of constitutional values is no longer such. A democratic system is one that guarantees human rights.
If these are not applied to the former prime minister, etc., others end up being robbed of millions, properties, imprisoned more easily, etc. Now the situation is degrading in a way that affects everyone's life. It is not the issue of the individual Sali Berisha, but of the order that affects everyone.
It is terrible judgment village. Because someone, be it Sali Berisha, Fatos Nano or Edi Rama, should not be imprisoned just because he was. In the 90s we had political prisoners. We had Fatos Nano, because in retrospect his conviction for abuse of office is very controversial.
In Albania, almost always, excluding the period of Ina Rama, proposed by Berisha and who turned completely against the people who appointed him, all other periods, the prosecutor's office has been seen as close to the government, rightly or wrongly. Today is no exception. There are other specifics, an international involvement, but there is a situation where under the general wave of hitting politicians, the implementation of the law is not seen.
So that legal norms are not applied, the presumption of innocence is not respected and house arrest is used without restraint. I don't believe that everyone escapes like Arben Ahmetaj, Berisha no and no. It would be more correct to attend the trial in a free state.
The request for the restriction of communication is proof that the request for the restriction measure is not related to the criminal file itself and this strengthens the suspicions that SPAK is acting for political purposes. Depriving the chairman of this party of communication is proof that he has party-political inspiration.
The protests will continue as before, nothing will change. However, I believe that the reaction of the opposition will be what it should be and the maximum. Nothing changes with Berisha in the office or at home ", he said among others in "News24".
