The trial against former Minister of Defense Fatmir Mediu for the explosion in Gërdec seems to be coming to an end. The media managed to drag it out for almost a year, as he continues to enjoy the freedom and salary of 3 million lek per month of the deputy. But will Fatmir Mediu be punished for that tragedy, or will GJKKO release the former minister?
Today there were some developments in the court session, which raise doubts that there is no attempt to close this case in the most shameful way. The key witness of this tragedy is not found. We are talking about Luan Hoxha. The general is the one who in the American embassy blamed two people for the tragedy, Shkëlzen Berisha and Fatmir Mediu . But he tried to become a sacrifice and fled to the USA, where he received asylum. SPAK included him in the list of witnesses, but today in court the prosecutors said that they cannot find him. " We can't find Agolli, who is in Albania, not Luan Hoxha in the USA ", was the answer of the prosecutor.
To justify the lack of his testimony, SPAK submitted to the court a testimony that Luan Hoxha gave on 17.02.2009 as a defendant. The testimony he gave at the US embassy was distributed in the media, but in fact it is not evidence. Luan Hoxha spoke at the embassy in 2008, while at the prosecutor's office a year later. In the testimony taken as evidence, he did not accuse anyone. He has denied the charges against him. He then denied the accusations against Shkëlzen and Mediu. In short, the testimony submitted by SPAK does not implicate Mediu, nor Shkëlzen.
Likewise, Anjola Agolli, the former Secretary of Aldo Bumçi, is not found. According to the prosecution, she is the one who sent the fax with the inscription "For Shkëlzen Berisha" to the Ministry of Defense.
According to the communications that the police had with Agolli's family members, they said that the latter was not in Albania. But, from a verification made by special prosecutors in the TIMS system, it turned out that Anjola Agolli is in Albania.
The prosecution asked to follow the same method and with it, where the old testimonies will be administered. Even in her testimony, she has changed her position several times and it is not known how much they can convince the court to convict Mediu or give clues to go to Shkëlzeni. GJKKO will be in the test with this file and it remains to be seen if Mediu will come out clean, or if we will have a punishment for face and face. / Pamphlet
