The parties in the Democratic Party are trying to find a common language for a possible union of the opposition, but even if this does not happen they see the possibility of creating a new party.
Democratic deputy Agron Gjekmarkaj has said that work is being done on the unification of the Democratic Party.
He himself has spoken out against any attempt that leads to division.
"This group is doing everything for the DP to unite and invites everyone to unite around the idea that the DP should function as one. It is in the process of talks with the Reestablishment group and we hope to succeed. I think it should be a union on principles. So if it happens, it must maintain its red lines, unite against the government. Terrible things are happening here and it looks like the middle group is to blame. It seems as if the opposition is misgoverning this country, we have a responsibility, but we do not have the responsibility of the government", said Gjekmarkaj.
However, Gjekmarkaj also explains about the case when a common language cannot be found between the parties within the opposition.
According to him, in this case, the parties may consider representing themselves as independent parties.
"If a modus is not found to respect the differences, these different nuances, then this group has the right to think of its own independent political existence. I wish very much that it does not happen and that a consensus is found for the DP to unite. But if for some petty reason this is not realized, it is the right of these people to remain in politics, to be representatives and to be represented without entering into conflict. Perhaps I have articulated this idea more, but other colleagues also discuss it. I don't use the term party because I don't want to condition the negotiations or put pressure," said Gjekmarkaj on ABC News.
