Democratic Party MP and Vlora political leader for the DP, Bujar Leskaj, has resigned from the political leadership in this region.
Through a post on her Facebook page, Leskaj states that the DP needs to launch "a deep internal analysis of the election loss, to understand why and where we all went wrong, the political leaders, the leaders of the DP and the leaders of its branches, the candidates for MPs, and what we need to do to consolidate trust among citizens."

It takes honest reflection and clear planning to correct the mistakes made.
A necessary step in this direction is for closed-list MPs to leave half of their mandate for open-list MPs/or successor MPs. This is a way to open the Democratic Party, as were the principles of the Re-establishment. Personally, after two years, I will leave my mandate as MP to the successor candidate on the list, to encourage new MPs, promote renewal and bring a new spirit of doing politics. This is a process that must be followed by all current MPs; who later, as former MPs, must continue to contribute maximally as if they were MPs, with activity. This formula, in my opinion, makes the Democratic Party healthier, making it stronger, more open and more secure for the future”, says Leskaj.
We remind you that after the clashes over the primaries, Leskaj defied party orders by participating in the protest in support of the KLA leaders who are being tried in The Hague.
During the protest, Leskaj said to the journalists: "Who are you following orders for?", then took the microphone away from one of them.
This move comes at a time when the DP is seeking to maintain a unified stance on this issue, but Leskaj has chosen to openly show his support for the former KLA leaders, despite party orders.
