Edi Rama's interview for " Le Point " highlights the clash between his statements and the journalist's direct questions, which he usually avoids in the local media. Through issues such as his stance on the EU, the relationship with the US, ties with international figures and concrete projects, the interview highlights contradictions, evasive answers and a political line that moves according to the context.
After successive attacks on the media and journalists in the country, Edi Rama seems to have now started to covet the international media. But this also has its drawbacks, as foreign journalists are not like the local media, where the vast majority brush the tail of the Global Leader, while those journalists who are critical are expelled.
To be more precise, yesterday Edi Rama gave an interview to the famous French magazine "Le Point", an interview that completely exposed him. First, journalist Anne Nivat dared to expose in Rama's eyes all the things that no one in the country tells him, while the prime minister himself openly showed that "he goes where the wind blows".
To take it one step at a time, right from the introduction the magazine took care to play with irony about Edi Rama, quoting another character, according to whom he was “a great leader in a small country.” And even, in the interview, Rama emphasizes this fact.
" For Albania, two names stand out: Ismail Kadare, our most famous writer, and Edi Rama," a local diplomat recently said, adding that "sometimes, being a small country with a great leader in every sense, is advantageous to us, " the interview's introduction states.
Based on this, the magazine initially gave the article a very ironic title: “Edi Rama: I am the Prime Minister of a very small country.” But then the title was changed, and Babloku probably didn't like this at all.
To get to the heart of the interview, the journalist openly asked Rama why he decided to oppose the EU and side with the US in declaring Iran a state sponsor of terrorism. On the other hand, she also reminded him of the fact that Rama was among the first to support the US attack, mentioning Macron. But the Albanian prime minister dodged: “ First, there is no single line of the European Union. Second, the president of the French Republic is the president of a very large republic. I am the prime minister of a very small country. I am not talking about regime change. I am talking about the absolute necessity of making this regime incapable of attacking its neighbors .”
The next question was: " If the European Parliament were to vote on a resolution condemning the offensive, could Albania emerge as a "black sheep" among candidate countries for the European Union?"
According to Rama: " Albania is not a member of the European Parliament. It is a candidate country, which is negotiating with the European Union. And, I repeat, the European Union does not have a formalized line on this conflict. Moreover, this is not contradictory ."
The journalist then focused on Sazani, insisting several times that he is being given to Trump's family precisely to get closer to him. Rama tried to justify himself, while the journalist insisted several times that he is Trump's son-in-law.
The most interesting part was about the Peace Board. The journalist asks Rama: " On February 19, you were in Washington for Donald Trump's Peace Board, where you were even an honorary guest. Why did you decide to become one of the pillars of this project? "
Rama then starts talking about relations with Russia and the journalist intervenes: " I ask you a question about the USA and you answer me about Russia. Don't you want to talk to me about the USA? Why do you mention Vladimir Putin every time I talk to you about Donald Trump? ".
The journalist also noticed that Rama criticized the UN, and according to her, Trump liked it a lot. But even here Rama was exposed, as he seems to be swayed by the wind: "It 's true, but I didn't do it to please Donald Trump. And I hope that what he's doing will help the UN wake up. Everyone says the same thing I do about the UN! I don't know any international leader who doesn't go 'pff' when he goes to the UN General Assembly ."
Then the journalist asks him: “ By participating in this Board, don't you risk giving the impression that Albania is becoming an American 'Trojan horse' in Europe, while you want to join the European Union? ” Getting used to the Albanian media, Rama maneuvers again: “ I don't know if the Europeans like this or not. I have no information about this... ”. But the journalist intervenes again: “ You know very well that the Europeans don't like it .”
Rama also quipped about his friendships with Macron and Orban, culminating in his concern about why Europeans boycotted the celebration in China. “ In Europe, we still live in a world where our elections are free! I don’t think invitations can be refused. For example, China is a reality far from us. Albania is the only European country without Chinese investments. And yet I found it worrying that there was no senior European representative in Beijing for the 80th anniversary of the Chinese victory over Japan .”
